Socage donates an innovative ultrasound system against covid-19: Socage srl of Carpi (Mo), a worldwide leader in aerial platforms shows its proximity to the area seriously affected by the health emergency linked to the spread of Covid-19 by donating the Philips Ultrasound System Lumify Mobile Ultrasound for the study of the lung, for AZ. SANT’ORSOLA MALPIGHI Hospital in Bologna.
This is an ultra-portable ultrasound machine completed by tablet and Convex probe intended to perform chest ultrasound of the lung in patients affected by Covid-19 pneumonia to assess the entity, along with the distribution and evolution of lung involvement at the bedside of the patient who cannot be moved from the dedicated section of the hospital.
This method is of fundamental and more practical relevance in addition to the traditional chest X-ray and CT scan, also allowing to integrate the recorded images into the hospital management system.
The liberal donation is in favour of the Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Department of the Sant’Orsola Malpighi Hospital of Bologna and to be allocated to the Covid-19 Emergency Wards under the direction of Cardiology.
The bequest was encouraged by Fiorenzo Flisi, CEO of the Socage Group and deliberately addressed to the Cardiac Surgery Department of Bologna – a department that followed his son Stefano Flisi throughout his short life, due to a serious congenital heart disease, who died prematurely at the tender age of 15 years on 15 December 2011 due to a heart attack.
To commemorate his memory, in 2012 the Flisi family founded the ForSte Onlus Association “Battiti per la Vita!” with the goal of supporting research, prevention and treatment of this kind of pathologies and the structures that help newborns, children and adolescents with congenital heart disease.
